“Cheers and Bye” is an exploration and documentary of the lives of Glasgow’s food delivery riders, revealing their daily struggles and challenges, as well as showcasing their resilience, humanity, and diversity. What began as an intention to record their experiences gradually evolved into a detailed understanding of their lives and the ethical considerations surrounding representation. By capturing the multifaceted realities of these delivery riders, I aim to challenge stereotypes and amplify their voices within a broader narrative. In this project, I have come to understand the persistent challenges and opportunities within documentary photography. The significance of compassion, sensitivity, and social consciousness underscores the responsibilities we have as visual narrators. I am convinced that through photography, we can create a more empathetic and genuine world.
