(she/her)

My practice presents a disturbing, otherworldly and colourful reverie. I attempt to dive into the depths and the dark recesses of the mind, where the duality of emotions is multiplied tenfold. Drawing on the symbolism of colour, light and shadow to communicate intense and mixed emotions, I use recurrent elements of projection, hidden faces and bodies as a metaphor for unsettling and disturbing sensations. I construct aesthetic images to amplify the malaise that lies behind them.

Photography and videography allow me to create a dissociative space where physical reality does not matter, to focus on a visual reconstruction of thought. I intend to create a filmic space that is interested in transcending the temporal experience. My practice is influenced by Deleuze and Bergson’s reflection on the relation between the screen, perception and time – I am interested in how the moving image can be at the intersection of the physical world and the world of ideas.

Saturated colours, bright or sombre images, outlines of faces emerging darkness, distressing sound and audio, I rework symbolic reality to build a fantastic and dark world between beauty and anguish in the human psyche.

Blue Betwixt

Blue Betwixt is a short video that depicts a nightmarish, disturbing and dreamlike world. It is a journey through human emotions where the film unfolds like the movement of thought.

The choice of the title refers to Kandinsky’s Blue and its infinity reference. The use of this colour, which I treat as highly saturated, allows me to multiply the emotions on the screen tenfold. Betwixt is from the sentence Betwixt and Between, which is a liminal space, somewhere intermediate.

From abyss to dream, this project aims to provoke a feeling of unease followed by appeasement in the viewer. The character enters an in-between world with a second figure presented as an alter ego. The anxiety and unease I aiming to convey is built on this unidentifiable space. The sound unrealizes the image, creating another fragmented and intense world. Different faces of reality appear.

I intend to render our complex inner world on screen, full of contradictions, underlying emotions and the decaying part of ourselves.

Liminal Spaces

Liminal Spaces

This project aims to confront the viewer with their own fears and anxieties by immersing them in a sensory experience that evokes the primal and visceral aspects of these emotions. Through the use of familiar yet unsettling sounds, such as the rhythmic pounding of heartbeats, the variable cadence of breaths, the eerie undertones of whispers, and the presence of insect noises, this work creates a space where the boundaries between the external and internal worlds blur.

Inside

INSIDE

Drawing upon the theories of Julia Kristeva and Barbara Creed, I aim to challenge the traditional representations of femininity and explore the darker and more taboo aspects of the female experience. I question the function of the body as flesh, breaking the inside/outside. The sensations of discomfort and uneasiness are a way to express repressed, dark and violent emotions. By embracing the parts of ourselves that society sees as repulsive, women can experience catharsis as the ultimate form of freedom.
