Eve Doherty (She/Her)

As a designer I aspire to create change, through enhancing the life of a user. Whether it be through functionality, comfortability or familiarity.

My proposal is a Wellness Retreat catered for people suffering with Alzheimer’s Disease – a degenerative disease affecting the brain, creating difficulties with memory, orientation and judgment. This retreat provides sanctuary, a safe space for those who need help with maintaining a daily routine, and fitness, both mental and physical. This retreat aims to provide and return a sense of normality to the users within their daily lives.

Walkthrough – The Leisure Building

The Leisure Building

Site

The site is located at the edge of Pollok Park, at 82 Dumbreck Road. It is surrounded by trees and nature, perfect for a relaxing retreat. The design is enclosed to create a safe space for the users. It has a central greenhouse located in the main courtyard, and another enclosing the pool in the leisure building. The design and layout are aided to the users, with a simple layout stemming from both two greenhouses, eye-catching doors and signage to minimise any confusion for orientation.

Exterior Elevation

The site is engulfed by nature, a key aspect of my design.
