L’ARCHIVE 25
I first met my Auntie Amina—the eldest sister of my dad’s family—through her beautiful designs. She would make kaftans for my younger sisters and me, then post them to us. These were the days before my family was granted British citizenship and could freely travel to Morocco. Her efforts cultivated in me a deep connection to Morocco during my early childhood.
That bond rooted itself in my identity, as I witnessed her talent and ambition through the parcels we opened, eager to unwrap our next kaftan to wear with pride. L’archive 25 is inspired by my heritage, my auntie, and is an ode to her legacy of craft and community.
It tells a story of collaboration, sisterhood, heritage, and sustainability as a way of life.
