Plasticus Generation

Envision a world where plastic pervades every aspect of existence, even infiltrating our very bodies.

What if the bodies of future generations were laden with microplastics, those minuscule fragments measuring less than 5 mm? The consequences of such a scenario would be catastrophic.

“Plasticus Generation” stands as a collaborative effort between Greenpeace and an immersive microplastic pollution exhibition campaign. Within the exhibition space, an array of artifacts awaits, each designed to provoke contemplation and stimulate dialogue about the potential future: from informative signage and striking installations to ultrasound scans vividly depicting the extent of the issue, newborn gifts offering potential mitigation measures, and an interactive wall empowering visitors to take action.

Natural resources, particularly soil, have been depleted, with the majority contaminated. Junk soil is widespread, while fine soil is rare—a luxury in itself. It has been classified into different tiers, with fine soil monetized and exclusively owned by the wealthy. This division significantly influences people’s daily lives, affecting the quality of food choices and their physical and mental health. The entire society is in a state of panic, diverting significant attention towards soil. Unrecognized values of soil have been uncovered. Due to its vast potential and rarity, people are increasingly drawn to soil collection in preparation for the next climate breakdown in 2053. This growing interest gradually transforms soil into a status symbol, initiating a series of changes in social behaviors.

This project aims to provoke thoughts about the potential future with an abundance of junk soil and limited fine soil. It encourages individuals to reflect on their societal roles and considers what each person, based on their position in society, could do to prevent this dystopian world from becoming a reality.
