Jemma Morse Stage 3 Projects
The first project is a Life-long Learning in Crafts Retreat in Fort William, inspired by the rich cultural heritage of the Highlands. This project aims to support the socialization of tourism and strengthen the town centre as a hub for learning, cultural exchange, and community interaction. The retreat features a wood workshop, hostel, gallery, and service spaces seamlessly integrated within a single building.
The second project is a sustainable retreat nestled on the shores of Lochan Meall an t-Suidhe, incorporating two observatories: a cold water plunge with a filtration system and a hot observatory with a green roof, powered by a Wells turbine. This project showcases my commitment to utilizing locally sourced, eco-friendly materials and minimizing environmental impact while creating a transformative experience for visitors.
Both projects demonstrate the power of architecture to shape our relationship with the world around us, encouraging us to live more harmoniously with nature and with each other. I believe these projects serve as a testament to the importance of thoughtful, responsive, and responsible design in creating a more sustainable and vibrant future for us all.
