Jiani Liu

Hi, you can call me Jiani. I come from a small city in the south of China, it has a slow pace of life, people’s desire for material needs is not high, it also nourishes my character and temperament. I love fashion from the time I started to pay attention to various styles of clothes, before that I was always looking for my goal. I’m able to concentrate 100% whenever I’m into designing, which is really rare for someone with a short attention span.

I love the difficulties I encounter during the development of an idea and then solving it, and I love the serenity in the centre of the process of making a garment, which is something that nothing else can bring. I focus on the details of my designs, which always bring surprises. I also hope that my design can convey my ideas to people who like my work, and through the work to form an invisible bridge between us to produce emotional collision.

996•Disequilibrium

The inspiration for this collection comes from employees who devote their entire lives and time to the workplace. The imbalance in the distribution between life and work is the norm in many social structures. The high pressure environment of working life causes physical and mental damage to people in an invisible way, so the conflict between the deepest emotions and the socialised emotions under the shroud of rationalised workplace rules is what this collection wants to explore.

In the technologically advanced and materially rich cities, they have lost their spiritual refuge, and they live in loneliness, confusion and numbness in their work life. The various illnesses of modern people, such as relying on violence to fight against nothingness, distortion of human nature and schizophrenia, are the spiritual dilemmas exposed by modernity in the post-industrial era.
