Fashion Design School of Design
Junying Zhou
I have recently graduated from the BA (Hons) Fashion Design programme at Glasgow School of Art. I am interested in and good at discovering creative and unusual clothing, such as transformation clothing, combining fashion with 3D printing, and I am always active in experimenting. Biodegradable fabric. I think that in an era of extreme technological development, as a designer, we must use new means and methods to create things that no one has before, and try to solve the current serious environmental pollution.
Fortuitously, I had the privilege of accompanying my father to Cop26 in Glasgow, an experience that profoundly shaped my creative focus on environmental sustainability. This life-changing experience served as the impetus for one of my project, where I experimented with cutting-edge biodegradable materials. Exploring eco-friendly conscious fiber fill materials, including Typha, Kapok Fiber, and EconyL recycled nylon, has not only expanded my understanding of materials but has empowered me to harness them in the creation of my own innovative projects. Through this process, I’ve not only deepened my comprehension of these materials but also honed my ability to fashion sustainable fabrics independently, solidifying my resolve to advancing the cause of eco-friendly design. At the same time, because I grew up in multiple cultural backgrounds, such as nomadic life in Inner Mongolia, high school in Vancouver, Canada, and university life in Glasgow, Scotland, these life experiences made me synesthesia and stimulated my senses. So I often have a lot of inspiration.

Temperature Deformation
This project was inspired by the temperature changes I felt as a child in the nomadic areas of Inner Mongolia. When I lived in the nomadic area, the temperature varied greatly throughout the day. It was very cold in the morning, very hot at noon, and very cold again at night.
All the fabrics in this collection are all natural fibers that are biodegradable, a combination of ramie and wool. Transformable silhouettes allow the wearer‘s body temperature to easily regulate based on changes in temperature throughout the day. The wool felt from the grassland culture depicts the beautiful scenes of peoples’ lives in nature.
What happens when Barrie’s casual comfort collides with the surrealist and dramatic Schiaparelli?
In this fashion collection, I will bring my macro perspective from travel to present colors and textures in an ex- aggerated and dramatic Schiaparelli style, and I will make this collection wearable in daily life with a casual and comfortable Barrie silhouette.
