O’DONNELL DOWNING is an image maker concerned with truth and objectivity. When working photographically, she uses the medium as a method of documentation rather than self-expression and understands the value of a photograph to be in the thing photographed and not the photograph itself or the photographer who took it. She strives to photograph anything and everything. O.D.D is currently making work using hardcore pornographic imagery as her source material. She intends to draw attention to the disturbing nature of this content and questions the impact of it.
Porn – 2021/22
My current work examines the violence and misogyny in mainstream hardcore pornography and questions what effect this has on everyday sexual practises and sexual violence. I aim to engage viewers and promote conversations about these issues that they may not believe are relevant to them.

Covid – 2020/21
From the start of the first British lockdown in March 2020 to the following summer I took 100+ photos a day on a basic point and shoot digital camera. The series is a document of life (and death) during the pandemic.
Here is a single photo from each month the series covered.
