My project aims to transform the former Scottish Ambulance Service Building on Maitland Street in Glasgow into a modern rehabilitation center. The center will focus on providing a comprehensive range of rehabilitation services, including physical therapy, hydrotherapy, occupational rehabilitation therapy, and specialized disease rehabilitation programs. It is designed to offer accessible, comfortable, and straightforward rehabilitation experience to all care recipients. The design concept seeks to create a rejuvenating rehabilitation experience through simplicity and the touch of nature. By incorporating natural elements into the simplified design, it aims to awaken the innate healing powers of the care recipients while providing a tranquil haven. This approach ensures that everyone entering the center can experience a deep, inner restoration and renewal.
Site
The location is:
Former Scottish Ambulance Service Building, 30 Maitland Street, Glasgow.
The location was chosen as a rehabilitation center because the building’s historical background is already related to medical services, and the adjacent buildings are still used for medical purposes. Situated near the city center, the area has many small rehabilitation-related businesses but lacks a large rehabilitation center. The transportation is relatively convenient, and the surrounding residential area provides a quiet environment.
Ground Floor
The ground floor mainly includes the office area in the lower left and two therapy rooms for occupational therapy and physical therapy equipped with large equipment. The parking lot on the right provides easier access for patients, who can enter through the side door on the right. The reception oversees all entrances and the waiting room. Each route is always spacious, providing a more convenient experience for users.
