Breathing

Through the intimate experience of breathing, this collection investigates the relationship between the body and art. Testing medical equipment and balloons with materials show the balance between medicine and art, which is one of the aims of this project. Breathing embedded in the lungs is represented visually by the respiratory tract and breath that is sometimes overlooked. This collection visualizes breath and recognizes these organs’ operations showing the movement and function of the lungs in the body.

Since COVID-19, people have been more interested in their bodies and health. COVID-19 attacks the lungs and respiratory system, sometimes resulting in damage. Recovering lung function is possible but can require exercise after the infection is treated. Each piece was designed to enhance the general public and patients with respiratory diseases to experience and understand their bodies intimately and sensitively.

BREATHING – CPR Rescue Mask

Covid and social distancing put space between people as the virus mainly spreads when an infected person breathes, talks, coughs, or sneezes. This Jewellery emphasizes getting close to each other and breathing together. I propose a reminder of the importance of breathing that was overlooked and the distance between each other.

Breathing Exercise Device

This jewellery has been proposed as a more friendly and enjoyable way to help people who need breathing exercises.

Materials: Silver, Balloon, Disposable Suction Catheter

Breathing Device – Mouthpiece

The mouthpiece allows the balloon to blow through the mouth, a significant body organ in breathing. The balloon visualizes breathing, and viewers recognize that they are breathing.

Breathing Device – nose

I have explored respiratory organs and have been inspired by medical instruments. The nose is one of the representative organs of the respiratory system. This Jewellery visualizes and emphasizes breathing through the nose.

Breathing is a daily duty, natural that most of us never give it a second thought.

How much oxygen do we breathe per minute?

How much oxygen does a person in a day?
