Interior design has the ability to create an immersive atmosphere while serving people. This is where my deepest fascination lies. Understanding between individuals often varies due to different personal experiences. However, within an immersive ambiance, people’s feelings can resonate and bridge the gap between them. This may be an ideal state, but it is also what I strive to pursue in interior design.

This project represents my personal endeavor to create a small utopian world for individuals who share similar ideas or are seeking clarity in their lives. It is an ongoing project that continues to evolve as I explore and learn from different perspectives and experiences. The project will manifest itself in various forms, but its core essence revolves around fostering connection among people and assisting them in discovering their own sense of purpose.

CITY ISLET-Introduction

In today’s fast-paced world, people’s lives are becoming increasingly hectic. While social media has made information more accessible, it has also made it easier for people to become overwhelmed by the sheer volume of information that they are exposed to on a daily basis. As a result, many people are finding it difficult to determine what they truly want out of life and are struggling to find meaning in their daily routines.

To address this issue, some individuals are turning to travel as a means of escaping the pressures of everyday life and exploring new cultures and ways of living. Travel provides an opportunity to meet new people, gain fresh perspectives, and create unique memories that will last a lifetime. The hotel serves as a common meeting point for travelers from all over the world, offering a place to relax and connect with others who share similar interests and worldviews.

I want to create a space that serves as a storytelling environment, I plan to utilize the concept of “islets” as the key element to establish a narrative atmosphere for travelers who visit the hotel. By incorporating different materials, functional spaces, and activities, the hotel will be transformed into a harbor where guests can relax and share their unique stories with one another. This approach will help to create an immersive experience that encourages guests to connect and engage with each other on a deeper level, ultimately enhancing their overall travel experience.

CITY ISLET-Site

Based on the needs of users and the location requirements of hotels, a good location should have favorable traffic conditions, which will attract a large number of travelers and also provide easy access for people with special needs. It should be centrally located in the city, which will allow for frequent interaction between locals and visitors and provide convenient access to various landmarks, thereby showcasing the city’s story to travelers. Additionally, the city’s abundant facilities will ensure that guests can easily satisfy any other service needs they may have.

CITY ISLET-Design

I drew inspiration from my observations of real life and noted that social media presents a lot of information, leaving individuals with numerous choices to make. However, it becomes challenging to determine what truly resonates with an individual’s heart amidst the abundance of options. People often mimic others’ lifestyles, but is that what they genuinely want?

I have chosen a site beside Glasgow Central Station, which has an ideal location for travelers visiting the city.

I’m working on a project to design a hotel called “City Islet.” The idea is to create a harbor for travelers who want to take a break from their journeys. I believe that everyone is like an islet in this world, with their own unique stories. Similarly, every building is like an islet in the city, with its own history and character.

With the City Islet hotel, I aim to create an environment that helps people connect with one another and with the space. I want to use the interior design as a tool to facilitate these connections, and to provide guests with unique memories of their stay. My hope is that by meeting different people, guests will feel like they are discovering new “islets” within the hotel. Ultimately, I believe that the power of interior design can help people form meaningful connections with the spaces they inhabit.

I will incorporate fluid lines throughout the space to mimic the lively waves of the beach, symbolizing it as a meeting point for all the wanderers in the “ocean” of life. In the public areas, I will emphasize the imitation of natural and irregular forms, creating a sense of tranquility and harmony by using serene and minimalist natural materials in the guest rooms.

To encourage social interaction among the hotel’s residents, I will establish multiple communal spaces on each floor and incorporate interactive facilities within these spaces. Additionally, I will maximize the openness of the ground floor by providing various public spaces, allowing more opportunities for local people and tourists to come together and connect.

Furthermore, I will showcase the hotel’s environmentally friendly initiatives by opening the indoor farm, dedicated to sustainable practices, to raise awareness among guests and visitors about the hotel’s commitment to environmental responsibility.

CITY ISLET- Sustainability

There are numerous sustainable activities happening behind the scenes in this hotel that may not be immediately visible to guests. In this booklet, I would like to showcase the progress that has been made towards making the hotel as eco-friendly as possible.
