Echoes of Gaelic

Echoes of Gaelic is a site-specific intervention in Mallaig, celebrating Gaelic heritage through music and materiality, the project features three structures inspired by land, water, and wind.
A curved pavilion shaped like a boat produces soft tones via suspended aluminium tubes, inviting performance and gathering. A recessed circular space carved into the ground offers quiet reflection and an amphetheatre like space for story-telling, while a bench beneath an inverted canopy resonates with rainfall and collects water. The design draws from vernacular Scottish forms, using low-carbon materials to root the architecture in place, culture, and sensory experience.
