Le Sens Du Partage
Le Sens Du Partage translated as “the meaning of sharing” is a project that aims to understand the relationship between culture and therapy through food. Food connects people, food allows conversation to be created and knowledge to be shared. In this project, through the making of a recipe book, photographs of food workshop and interviews, I am highlighting the power of food that grant us awareness, compassion and love through the act of caring and sharing.
Having lived in Africa, Europe, and Asia, since my young age, I was raised and educated in a multicultural environment. Indeed, having the chance to discover new culture, new languages, new history, new tradition and new food it fostered my interest to understand the relationship between culture and food and how it can be represented in an educational way through the art of cooking. Food brings people together, it’s how we express love, it’s our cultural heritage and everyday life. Therefore, food became a sort of therapy through times and generation. Being a really sociable person, I wanted to work on a project that would allow me to expand and sharpen my organization, management and relations skills, but as well that would allow me to develop my creative skills.
Within this project, I personally aimed to develop my knowledge in terms of printing method and production but as well to enhance my skills in editorial design, publishing and photography. Moreover, I critically developed my work, identified and explored key contextual issues through my involvement within social enterprises that enhance community regroupment through food activities, interview with food designer and the organization of workshops. It allowed me to showcase my executive, understanding and analysation skills by studying in-depth socio-cultural, historical, political and behavioural factors to collect data and approach my research and outcome in a meaningful manner.
As a graphic designer, but mainly a visual communication designer, my goal was to create a conversation between individuals and allow others to learn, discover and connect with other cultures. It is really important to understand and appreciate each other’s differences and how we can learn from them without appropriating them for ourselves and spread a feeling of joy and happiness.
