Off to the Pictures

Film City Glasgow’s newest venue, the ‘Pictures’ is dearly inspired by Giuseppe Tornatore’s ‘Cinema Paradiso’ which celebrates the wonder and nostalgia of the world of film. Drawing from these themes the institute seeks to conceal and unveil spaces. Curves recur throughout the building with looping walls mimicking the spirals of a roll of film. The oscillation of the facade seeks to hint at the tectonics within.

As an ode to the 1930s golden days of Glasgow Cinema, the scheme hopes to keep this romanticism alive with a contemporary twist as the main auditorium invites the people of Glasgow for an evening with a dining experience within range of performances, live audience filming and pictures.
