One Horizon
One Horizon is a visionary architectural proposal developed in response to the upcoming 2026 Commonwealth Games, reimagining Glasgow’s historic Briggait as a vibrant, multi-functional space where athletic excellence and everyday community life converge. Designed over a three-month period, the project transforms the site into a lasting civic asset that transcends the temporary nature of the Games. Public and private zones are clearly defined, with the ground and first-floor hard zones offering immersive experiences that allow visitors to engage with the spirit of the Games and explore sporting culture. Meanwhile, private areas on the first floor are designed to support athletes with adaptable spaces for training, recovery, and relaxation. The project is driven by a vision to create a unified horizon—a space rooted in equality, inclusivity, and mutual respect. Its goals include enabling athlete wellbeing, fostering public interaction with sport, promoting the values of the Commonwealth Games, and ensuring the continuation of health, culture, and community engagement long after the event concludes. Through sustainability, inclusivity, and future-proof design, One Horizon envisions a legacy where high-performance sport and civic life coexist and thrive within the urban landscape of Glasgow.
