The artist-as-individual terrifies me, but the artist-as-brand intrigues me. My opinion on the value of my work is a complicated mess, so why not poke the consumer bear for shits and giggles? I associate my work with teleshopping and tacky marketing aesthetics so that I might control the narrative of criticism. You can’t put me down if I put myself there first! I am always striving to find new ways to torture myself, and not shut up about it.
