I am a student of product design engineering. At the beginning of the year, I began to focus on products for the elderly, this group of customers who requires designers’ more preference and patience. After initial series of research and studies, standing and sitting is a worthwhile development for the elderly customers group whose fragile legs and waists require more physical support. At present, the relevant products on the market have the following disadvantages: high price, complex structure, and heavy product weight, so I try to make few development and iteration the concept on riser recliner. I carried out the standing test, seat Angle test and dynamic system mechanical measurement in phases, and observed the rotating motion trajectories of bascule bridge. There are several mechanical system methods to support seat rotation which I am interested in the gear system and pulley system. By considering the cost, mechanical properties and simple or complete of structure, the gear system is finally selected to provide the seat with the power support for rotating motion, and the torque in the process of seat movement is reduced through the speed ratio between the big and small gears. In terms of materials,i chosen the bamboo which makes the product lighter, more environmentally friendly and less costly.
