My practice is reliant on my hometown, I work closely with communities in Wishaw and the surrounding areas to create archival works about the changes that have occurred in the community. My practice mostly includes working with archive films and photographs, that have come from family archives, giving them a new breath of life.

I have taken the opportunity to explore deeper the medium of film and the emotive properties of the moving image
can transfer into my practice, creating works that involve my own work and archive work on Super 8.

The 2 video works encompass what communities were and the ties that were created in a workforce. They look closely into the closure of the Cummins Factory in Shotts, where my papa worked for 25 years. Taking archive video from the news and workers around the time of the closure and combined this with a mirrored image of the factory today. The film also ties into the family connections that ran deep in the factory’s production lines, especially my family using super 8 archive footage that was gifted to me I highlighted significant moments in my family’s lives revisiting and reframing these precious memories.

A series of images taken in the small town of Wishaw where I am from and grew up, thinking about the connections and changes that occurred in the town and the communities within. This photo series highlights the Death of the local high street scotland and aims to create a community surrounding the photographs to allow a space to speak about this topic.
