Sculpture & Environmental Art

School of Fine Art / 36 students / Stow Building

The Sculpture & Environmental Art programme has an ethos of engaging with the public and wider social factors surrounding a piece of art. The curriculum approaches sculpture in the most experimental and contemporary sense. While study includes foundational techniques like construction, casting, and fabrication, the programme heavily encourages time-based and media-focused works, including video and moving image, performance art, audio installations and site-specific group projects. Environmental art shifts the focus from objects in a studio to art made in the broader public domain. Students learn to create work in response to location, communities, and cultural contexts.
