Care To Be

neu tip

neu tip aims to change how we look at teacher training around the topic of Neurodiversity within the classroom. This product and service takes a new approach to teacher training by encouraging children to share their experiences of a class by reflecting on what they enjoyed, and what they found challenging without putting their hand up in class to give live feedback to the teacher through their personal desk neut. This allows the teacher to reflect on their current teaching methods and prompt conversations between students and staff around their learning preferences/experiences.

This project began when looking into how we could make classrooms more inclusive for those who are neurodiverse. Through research, I found that most of the difficulty was the misunderstanding of those who are neurodiverse, and many assumptions are being made about pupils, by putting labels on them before even meeting them. This tool then also creates a digital experience Log which can be used to see trends in a child’s learning to better aid them in the future.

I want to change the way we categorise children on paper, Stop putting them in boxes and allow their experiences to tell us about them and their learning needs.

The Desk neut

The desk neut is an interactive desk device which allows students to swipe their card to attach the device to their neu tip online log. Once swiped the neut acts as a way for pupils to ask for help without raising their hand in the classroom by simply placing a shape onto the top plate. When a shape is placed it sends a notification to the teacher at the front of the classroom which then prompts them to engage in conversation with this pupil to see if they can help with anything.

neu tip Log

The neu tip log is where all the experience data from the desk neut’s are uploaded too. This can be accessed by both students and teachers to see experience summaries of classes, personal experiences of classes and a place to document personal strengths and aims for the year. This log is designed to go alongside a typical student record to give more meaning behind the likes of student grades, attendence and most importantly to give those who are Neurodiverse a place to express that they are more than a dignosis.

User Journey One

Name: Rebecca- Position: Year 2 High School Student(Main Stakeholder)- Rebecca struggles with confidence and would normally keep quiet during classes if she was struggling but with neu tip it gives her a way to tell the teacher shes struggling without putting her hand up infront of her peers. This then allows the teacher to have a one to one with Rebecca and understand how shes finding certain tasks.

User Journey Two

Name: Carla- Position: neu tip Advisor- Carla used to work as a classroom assistant but when she heard about the neu tip service she was keen to get involved. Carlas job is to travel around Schools around the UK to deliver the neu tip teacher training guide which introduces the Desk neut for the students and the experience tracking digital system.

User Journey Three

Name: Martha- Position: Teacher (Main Skateholder)- In the classroom Martha struggles to keep an eye on all her pupils but she is aware that there is several Neurodiverse pupils in her classroom but doesnt want them too feel like they are being watched. Therefore, allowing all children a desk neut, it gives all her pupils a way to ask for help but also track how they are individually finding the lession which uploads to their neu tip log.

Care To Be

Care To Be is a support network with an in-home ‘Care base’ which is aiming to raise an informed and educated population. As “For the last 70 years, fertility rates have decreased worldwide, with a total of 50%” for many reasons including people being uncertain as to what situations/environments they would be bringing a child into, therefore, this project began in
an effort to offer support to those who need it in a future world of untraditional family structures and decreasing birth rates to guide them on their journey to make an informed decision on whether or not they would like to raise a family.

The system allows the user to create their own global ‘Family Network’ by matching users based on questions/thoughts they have fed into the home care base with people who might be going through the same situations or are knowledgeable of topics that the user is asking about.

By creating these connections, I want to provide information and support to the Care base user to help them make more informed decisions on their Health, Relationships and most importantly their futures with Care for themselves and others being at the core.
