Sculpture & Environmental Art

Santiago Del Pozo

Landscape created with objects found during my walks in the Scottish countryside.

He is a Spanish multidisciplinary artist based in Edinburgh. He works with natural materials, such as wood, clay or resin and easily found in the natural environment. His work philosophy is based on respect for the environment and therefore he strives to develop sustainable projects that consist of producing 0 emissions and 0 costs. His art installations are the result of a reflection on human behaviour and its relationship with nature and generate debate on the current way of producing and consuming.

We Are One

Recycled wood, Wool and a seed | 140 cm x 120 cm x 60 cm

The initial aim is to share my experiences, my Scottish nature walks with the public in an attempt to generate their own. It is an invitation to walk with me and to care together for future generations of living beings. To bring the natural environment closer to the city through personal interpretations of nature and thus improve our relationship with it.To create a place to reflect on human behaviour in its relationship with nature. To analyse the points that unite us and those that distance us in order to blur the line that separates us. The ultimate intention is to reconnect with nature to develop a loving relationship that involves mutual care and support to ensure the well-being of all.

This includes alternative ways of thinking to find sustainable ways of consuming and producing without negatively affecting future generations. Working in this direction there are two approaches involved in my work. One is to work with recycled materials and the ultimate intention of my work is their return to nature. This consists of, after some time, reusing the material used in other projects or undoing and decomposing the piece to create compost, a symbolic action to guarantee the balance of the planet.
