Artist’s Statement

I am a multidisciplinary artist with a predominant focus on sculpture. Using the human form as a starting point for creative development. The connecting relationships between Mother Nature and the environmental impacts of humans is reflected heavily in the atmosphere of my works.

Sustainability and climate change lie at the core of my practice and underline my work’s research and development. The location and placement of my work is important as it represents the ‘bridge’ that direct us back to nature from the constraints of society.

I enjoy dancing on the fine line between scientific reality and lucid imagination. The intentions of my works are not to lead viewer’s perception, but instead to encourage viewers to sit down with their demons. Learn to understand their emotions, primal actions and societal perceptions.

As an artist, I am a walking contradiction sent to question, juxtapose and provoke raw and untamed emotions from my viewers. Born and bred within the majestic Scottish Highlands currently playfully rooted within industrial Glasgow. My artwork is designed to create space, give a voice to the voiceless, encourage change concerning the climate crisis, demand ownership of anatomy whilst facing the realities of being working class within the creative industries.

As a child I would be regularly told off for ‘daydreaming’ and ‘not paying attention’, both at home and in school. Today it is my passion to pull those ‘daydreams’ out of my head and painstakingly forge them into a physical reality for others to view and interpret.
