You Witnessed Me Walking
‘You Witnessed Me Walking’ is an exploration of how walking can become an act of memorial but also an act of self-discovery. It takes the 24 mile journey from Camelon to GSA at Stow, along the Forth and Clyde Canal, as context. The walk celebrates the memory of my late father who studied at GSA in 1948. My repeated walks along the canal have generated a walking costume made of images and foraged items: it is both a map and a journal, but not a linear one. For the degree show, I bring my walk from the canal into the exhibition space, engaging with the viewer through presenting found items and telling the tales of my walks.
