Coltas nan Gàidheal
What could the material history of Gaelic have looked like, had it not been subject to such violent erasure?
This project set out to explore a feeling of disconnection towards formal Gaelic culture, as a ‘first-generation’ speaker who learned the language in Glasgow – despite it being a part of my heritage.

Most of the songs in this book are puirt-à-bheuls - a traditional form of 'mouth music'. Upon closer inspection, there is a gap between the tone in which they are often delivered in contemporary culture, and the content of the lyrics.
