Studying in the art school allowed me to discover myself and reflect on myself. To me, being a graphic designer is not just about providing solutions but also communicating with the audience and bringing inspiration to our lives.
Most of my work focuses on cultural differences and finding ways to communicate them. Coming from a different background, I tend to look for similarities and differences between Taiwan and the UK. In my final years, my work has centred on communicating my personal experiences by using the similarities I discovered to resonate with people from different backgrounds. Everyone is different, but we share the same feelings.
Using different materials and switching between 2D and 3D is crucial to my practice because I believe there are many various ways to communicate ideas. Just like human beings, each of us is unique, but there will be something that connects us.

I believe that everything that happens has a reason.
Epictetus said: ‘ Don’t seek for events to happen as you wish, but wish them to happen as they do happen.’
From the Stoic point of view, the universe is governed by logos (rational divine order), which causes each thing to grow and develop according to its kind.
This project reveals the uncertainty of our lives and how the universe will guide us, in its random and logical way, to the right path.
Combining ‘Kau Cim’, an Asian fortune-telling practice, with Western tarot/ oracle card reading into a modern Gachapon machine.
There are five main characters, and each represents a different category. Rick the Koi represents creativity and spirituality; Nancy the bird represents courage; Betty the Anglerfish represents love; Tony the Octopus represents life-decisions; and Wise the Owl represents wisdom.
Each capsule contains a figurine with a fortune poem that relates to its category. There is a set of characters made with pewter to represent the golden prize, the special one.
Sweet Memories
My work has always circled the theme of cultural differences. Coming from a different background,
I tend to find the similarities between the UK and Taiwan.
Packaging design is essential in our lives and serves as a gateway to communicating with audiences.
I’m intrigued by vintage packaging designs, which I think are more attractive and unique than contemporary designs.
The publications aim to compare confectionery packaging design in the 1900s and the 2000s in both Taiwan and the UK.
The World of Potatoes
A four-week project to explore Figma.
This project is to design a cooking game for a 7-year-old girl. The design goal is to be playful and insightful while keeping children interested in cooking. Inspired by the recipe, Greek-style cream potatoes, this cooking game focuses on potato dishes around the world.
The design aims to learn the ingredients by deconstructing the dishes into raw ingredients and reconstructing them step by step into the dish again. Using colours and shapes to guide the user in guessing and recognising the ingredients. Follow up with an interactive step-by-step to instruct users how to prepare the dishes.
Middle Ground – Compromises
We force ourselves to make changes and adjustments; however, it is necessary for the relationships, and I think the middle ground in a relationship resonates with many people.
By learning about couples’ relationships from my family and friends, I compared the differences between cultures and generations.
We found balance and solutions through the compromises and sacrifices we made. Though the process is uncomfortable, eventually we create something new together, a new lifestyle, a new pattern. Through exploring different materials and approaches to imply the compromises we made, the process of making compromises, and the result of the compromises.
There are 3 parts of this project. The first part is domestic objects to represent daily situations in the relationship, the second part is the process of making compromises, and the final part is the outcome of the compromises.
Compromisea between messy and organised in the relationships.
Compromises in time management
The process of making compromises: How to find balance while making compromises?
The distorted patterns are the creation of compromises; they are intriguing and beautiful, but also make it uncomfortable to read the text underneath. The texts underneath are the reason for making compromises.
