Tin Church

Tin Church is a small building. It is a wooden frame cladded with corrugated tin on the exterior and hand plastered sheet material on the inside. It holds plaster pillars with plaster capitals, plaster stars, wooden pews, stained glass windows and painted walls. This piece is my final work at Glasgow School of Art and it brings together all that I have learnt after four years of thinking deeply while developing my practical skills.

Tin Church is the physical embodiment of my deepest feelings on human experience and art. The image of the ‘church’ is a representation of my relationship with art-making and I have quoted or referenced words and images from religious iconography to evoke the feeling of worship I have towards it.
