Alice Mcgreevy

(She/Her)

My graduate collections – ‘Serenity’ and ‘Reconnect’ – are inspired by nature’s forms and colours, and the ocean. My 4th year essay: ‘Exploring the relationships between contemporary architecture, nature, and the enhancement of physiological and psychological well-being’ heavily influenced the overall theme – creating Biophilic textile Prints that allow people to re-connect with the outdoors and be in touch with our senses and well-being. ‘Serenity’ focuses on subtle tonal colourways and organic shapes for interiors.  Using a combination of screen printing and dye sublimation with three dimensional finishes to create texture. ‘Reconnect’ is a vivid collection that was created through collage drawings, photoshop and dye sublimation. It is full of fun bold shapes and colours that lights up the space.

Mundane Elegance

My complimentary 20 credit project ‘Mundane Elegance’ was solely based on the technical exploration of mark making with Procion P MX Dye. I collected random objects and experimented which marks I could create using a variety of natural and synthetic fabrics. The colours I used were influenced by the bright colours that are nature. I was creating clothing that was comfortable and light on the skin and that are also versatile, as the fabrics and marks are very fluid and compliment the body in many ways. This project was heavily inspired by my drawings I created with tissue paper and water which led me to using everyday objects like plastic bottles, toothbrushes and more.
