Within my final year project Iomrall (the Gaelic word for wandering/aberration)
I explore the intersection of shape, line, and colour found within everyday spaces, developing a collection of versatile knitted textiles for both fashion and interiors. Through my drawing process, I extract and reinterpret details such as staircases, windows, and railings, transforming these often-overlooked elements into new and unique design compositions. These drawings form the foundation of my design process, which I then develop through experimentation, distortion, and material exploration within knit.
Guided by a playful and process led approach, I use knitting as a method of discovery, allowing the process of making to lead me to the final outcomes. Working primarily with high-quality natural fibres such as wool and cotton, I investigate how differing yarn qualities and constructions interact to create depth, texture, and versatility within the fabric.
A key focus of my practice is the development of reversible textiles that can function across both wearable and interior contexts. By creating fabrics that are visually and structurally engaging from multiple perspectives, I aim to design contemporary knitted textiles that are adaptable, tactile, and multifunctional, existing equally as garments, accessories, or interior pieces.
