Conor Browne

(he/him)

Conor Browne was born in Ireland and is currently based in Glasgow. He makes work that combines kinetic sound sculptures with a world-building approach. Inspired by re-work design philosophy, his practice uses recycled materials and electro-mechanical jigs to speculate and create dystopian fantasies and machines. He imagines the soundtrack in a post-apocalyptic scenario, wherein society is being rebuilt against the odds and learning from the mistakes of the one that fell before it. His work also looks at our relationship with labour and how we merge with the machine in certain work environments. The routine and self-consumption within these frameworks reference Nancy Fraser’s idea of Auto-Cannibalism.
