Duncan Buchanan
I’m a product designer interested in branding, experience design, storytelling, and materiality. My work explores how objects, systems, and experiences shape interaction, behaviour, and emotional connection within everyday life, combining visual awareness with thoughtful, insight-driven design.
After completing a HND in Product Design at City of Glasgow College, I developed a strong industrial and manufacturing-focused foundation before continuing my studies at Glasgow School of Art, where my practice expanded into more speculative and conceptual territory. The combination of both experiences allows me to balance practical problem solving with narrative-led exploration, creating work that feels both engaging and considered.
S.I.X – For The Moments Between Bites
S.I.X is a placemat and coaster dining set designed to transform everyday meals into meaningful moments of connection. In a time where busy schedules and digital distractions limit quality time within relationships, S.I.X reimagines the dining table as a space for intentional interaction.
Grounded in the five love languages; acts of service, quality time, gift-giving, words of affirmation, and physical touch, the product encourages couples to express love in a way that is personal to them, with engaging conversation, deeper connection, and a greater sense of presence at the table.
At the heart of SIX is the belief that food itself is a universal language, bringing people together through ritual, culture, and shared experience. By framing food as the metaphorical sixth love language, SIX elevates dining from a daily routine into an act of love.
