Working in oils, my portraits explore nostalgia and ephemeral moments. Influenced by an obsession to collect and document images and objects that I feel deep connections to, the paintings have personal meaning and a sense of longing. Collage acts as a starting point to
bring influence and emotion together, bookbinding journals to hold them makes a tangible representation of my ideas that is precious and intimate. The subjects of my work are full of emotion or quiet and contemplative, existing in environments that are personalised,
unchanging, warm and familiar. A long-time interest in the underappreciated women of the folk and psychedelic rock scenes of the 1960s provides me with a treasure trove of influence, music, collage elements and subjects for my work.
