A Scottish Illustrator/ Designer. I like my work to have a meaningful aspect that can maybe help others. My practice this year has been a way for me to express my grief for my mother. I have produced a children’s book called ‘What You Use to Say’ about the grief of a loss of a parent. I wanted to find ways of bringing her into my work so every design choice has some connection to my mother. I have enjoyed creating work in memory of her and using it as a way to feel connected to her.

What You Use to Say
‘What You Use to Say’ is a children book about the grief of a loss of a parent. After recently losing my mother there was not a lot of things that brought me any form of peace, other than when I was told I reminded people of her or when I seen parts of her in my siblings. I wanted this book to be a way of sharing the comfort I get from this to hopefully help others in similar situations. I wanted to find ways of bringing her into my work so every design choice has some connection to my mother from her hand writing to her obsession with looking after the foxes in the garden.
