Sensory Stillness
My interior textile collection ‘Sensory Stillness’ explores how the colours, shapes and textures we experience around us every day can influence our emotions and wellbeing. Inspired by imagery I collected throughout the serene, but also fast paced Marseille, I aimed to recreate in fabric the city’s juxtaposition of visual and sensorial intensity with its coastal and historical tranquillity. I have developed a collection of knitted textiles intended to stimulate the senses. Promoting relaxation and inviting gentle interaction, they aim to enrich interior spaces with a sense of calm, connecting everyday environments to deeper emotional and sensory experiences.
Additional Portfolio Project
My additional portfolio project is routed in creating sustainable, multi-function knitted textiles for fashion. I revisited early collaged drawings from my main studio project and recontextualized them for fashion knit design. I gradually moved toward more organic forms, increasing the scale and linking shapes, while considering their placement on the body and how the textiles would interact with the wearer. The final outcomes are one-off multi-purpose fashion textiles that showcase the exploration of finishing double-bed knits with sandwich trims, felting, and bonding.
