In red and yellow, blue and green, cropped subjects are a site unidentified. Decontextualized environments are emphasized through this, unconventional black-and-white darkroom techniques that subdue tones and vary the amount of information presented, and color prints that feature subject matter with a clearer identity. Primarily informed by post-structuralist philosophy on phenomenology, the work explores ideas of stimuli, the body, and the first-person perspective.

In Corpus, theorist Jean-Luc Nancy writes “the body makes room for existence”. In important respects for subjective photography, the space nurtures a signal (an internalized sign). From the reception of sensations, a metaphysical perception occurs. Leaving details intentionally vague, the work serves as an indeterminate signal; this missing information and context, due to the material choices, affect our ability to derive meaning or fill gaps in the visual imagery. The instability of this visual creates a space for the viewer to project their own subjective readings.
