Jenna Glancy

Taking inspiration from club culture, the project is informed by research exploring decaying club posters, urban markings and lighting – exteriors and interiors of clubs. Photography capturing positive and negative shapes created by dancing figures and graphic elements informed the use of bold motifs in my work. Examples of graphic design and typography have influenced aspects of my drawing. Aligning with my theme I encompassed the D.I.Y ethos of club wear by using second hand fabrics, scraps and off cuts. Taking an experimental approach to printing by working freely with screens, stencils, bonding and digital processes I have explored unconventional combinations to interpret the visual qualities in my research. The final collection consists of compositional, textural and graphic printed textiles on a range of base fabrics designed for the use of club wear, incorporating sustainability through reuse.
