Jules Dunn

(they/them)

Jules is a Scottish artist working photography and moving image. Their work looks at a relationship between environment, identity, language, body, domestic and natural spaces, textual form and translation. They use their practice to contextualise and understand the self and experiences, and to make depictions of certain mundanities and minutiae of life. They often work with text, and seek to make work that asks its viewer for intimacy. Interactions with places, people, objects and domestic and natural environments are used as a method of reflection, and subject matters are chosen through a lens of queering and hauntology. Their practice encompasses thinking about language and translation in order to question the vocabularies through which we have come to know ourselves.
