Nostalgia

My final year of work revolves around the concept of nostalgia. I explore this through bright visuals, tactile materials, and physical objects.

I chose not to focus on a specific decade, but rather the idea of the feeling – a combined summary of past and present generations.

Inspired by toys, old technology, and vivid colours, I collected and photographed forgotten items from charity shops, arranging them into totem-like compositions

I’ve integrated toys into my woven samples and later experimented with rubber and mesh tubing. I also created passamatre trims from found objects circling back to my ‘totems’ and idea of something forgotten being reused for a new purpose.

I developed this further into my extended design project- exploring the simple but effective sateen structure ,adding a different quality to my work. Looking at my colour wraps for reference ,I chose to focus on the colour scheme itself with striped repeats.
