About Me

Hi my name is Lucia Fitzsimmons.

I have a strong interest in video editing/graphic styles within AfterEffects and Touch Designer.

My work uses different types of media and overlaying different colours and effects to create eye catching visuals. I enjoy creating work which engages the audience and starts conversation.

Behind the Screen

Behind the Screen is an interactive installation about the downsides of social media and ‘doom scrolling’. This invites you to stand in front of the camera and witness the chaos which unfolds. As mobile phones become the forefront of life, the truth behind the screen slowly unfolds, feeding us toxic and overwhelming information that keeps us hooked.

The blue light from our devices keeps us alert at night instead of helping us wind down and relax, which disrupts our sleep. This will bring awareness to the amount of time we spend online and make you realise that everything becomes a blur while scrolling for hours.

The video will become more overwhelming and harder to read the longer you stand in front of the camera.

Is it really worth it?

Will you stay in front of the screen?

AttractorScreen

This is what the user will see before walking into

AnalysingFace

At the start of the installation, you are invited to stand in front of the webcam for it to analyse your face, ready to begin the scrolling of videos.

EndofVideo
GlitchedScreen

At this point in the installation the graphics appear bolder, harder to read and more overwhelming making the person unaware of what they are truly seeing.
