Half Past Now: Screen-Printed Art Book on Glasgow’s Music Creative Collective

Context
Half Past Now is a limited-edition, screen-printed publication created as the final project for my Communication Design degree at Glasgow School of Art. This handmade art book documents the evolution of a grassroots Glasgow art collective: from its founding ethos to its later ventures into underground music events.

Process
The project blends interview-based research, on-location sketching, and traditional printmaking to preserve and celebrate a specific moment in the city’s creative history. With direct access to the collective’s members, I was able to build a personal and authentic narrative that aims to inspire other artists seeking to form their own communities or self-organised events.

Technically, the book was produced using manual screen printing, traditional bookbinding, and digital design tools including Photoshop and InDesign. Through this process, I deepened my skills in editorial storytelling, print production, and project management, while also navigating the complexities of collaborative documentation.

Outcome
Half Past Now was met with enthusiastic feedback from faculty, peers, and practitioners for its depth of research and tactile craft. The project marked a key milestone in developing my voice as both an illustrator and visual storyteller.
