Molly Murray

(She/ her/ they)

Every individual has a different relationship to art and the artworld, and Molly wants to explore this through her work. In her research she focuses on surrounding herself with family and friends, her close community of loved ones. Each of them has their own idea and relationship to art and Molly wants to explore that. Molly wants to be able to give back to people who play such a big role in her life, and a way she can do that is give them the opportunity to connect with art, and each other. Studying fine art for 4 years has given Molly worlds of opportunities to learn and experiment with art. This experience has really made her think about who has access to art, who is told they are or aren’t allowed to explore this world in any way they like. Art doesn’t have to be a career it can be relaxing, exciting, challenging and fun.

Molly’s main approach is workshop based, and documentation via photographs and video. Molly’s approach is to allow people to have creative freedom in their lives or open their minds to that being a possibility. Molly allows the participants to explore new materials and think differently.

Molly strives to have a domino effect, from those participating, and those viewing the work, viewing what has been experienced and created by her and those who have taken the time to participate in her workshops. Molly often thinks about how accessible art is to the world. Molly hopes to bring a new perspective to art for those who don’t feel welcome or included, if that is through essay writing or just with her immediate family and friends.
