Museum of Childhood

Introduction

My design process begins with immersion – delving into the purpose and vision behind the space. Whether it’s a home, a workplace, or a cultural institution like a Museum of Childhood, I believe in crafting environments that tell a story and foster connection. Central to my philosophy is the belief in the transformative power of play, the importance of storytelling, and the value of preserving the shared heritage. By celebrating the past, embracing the present, and envisioning the future, I strive to create a welcoming space where memories are made, connections are forged, and the spirit of childhood is cherished by all who enter.
In the Museum of Childhood, my approach involved careful consideration of the museum’s thematic elements, its intended audience, and the desired experience for visitors. I explored innovative ways to incorporate interactive exhibits, flexible layouts, and sensory elements to create an immersive journey through the wonders of childhood. From the layout of exhibition spaces to the selection of materials, colours, and lighting, it’s about striking a balance between functionality and creativity, between preserving the past and embracing the future.

Colour Scheme

Neutral colours like white are staples in modern design. It is a versatile backdrop that can harmonize with decorative elements without causing visual clutter.
This allows for greater flexibility in changing decor or accents over time without rethinking the primary colour palette. It makes spaces appear larger and brighter as they reflect more light, creating a more relaxing and serene environment.

Focus Points and Bold Accents
While the base of neutral tones provides a serene and cohesive look. Adding bold colours as accents inject vibrancy and personality into the space. The bold accents are just that—accents, which means they should not overwhelm the neutral backdrop but rather complement it.
Bold colours, in my design, draw the eye and can serve as focal points in a room. They are a fantastic way to inject personality and focal interest into a room without overwhelming the space with colour.
I achieved that by adding an accent wall. This element commands attention and breaks the monotony of neutrals; for example, green brings a sense of freshness and tranquillity.
