Thousand Faces 千面
A Collection Built on Function, Heritage, and Conscious Ownership
This collection is rooted in a simple question: how do we own less, but wear more?
Inspired by the functional philosophy of Japanese fashion design, the collection prioritises garments that are comfortable, practical, and prioritise self-expression. clothing should work for the wearer, not against them.
Heritage plays an equal role in the collection’s foundation. Drawing from the designer’s Chinese background, Hanfu, traditional clothing worn by ethnic Han people in ancient China is a traditional layering system of garments informs the collection’s modular approach. Like the kimono and hanfu traditions, layering here is purposeful.
Each piece is designed to work independently and together.
At the heart of the collection, kimono fabric sourced directly from Japan, gifted personally to the designer. Rather than allowing the fabric to remain in storage, the collection gives it new life, honouring its origin while bringing it into a contemporary context.
Self expression is key to how we dress. The clothes we choose communicate who we are, how we feel, and where we are going. Thousand Faces TM (senmen in Japanese or Qianmian in Chinese) acknowledges that the wearer has many styles they want to portray. Through the modularity of the collection, one garment can be worn in countless configurations; reversed, layered, restyled, or mixed with other pieces to create entirely different looks. The result is a wardrobe that shifts and adapts with the wearer, rather than defining them.
Materials have been selected with comfort as a priority. The kimono fabric is 100% cotton, and other fabrics are blends that feel soft and pleasant against the skin.
Sustainability in this collection is approached through use, not just production.
By enabling multiple styles within a single garment, the collection reduces the need for excess ownership. Fewer pieces are required, worn more often, and kept for longer. Longevity is not a byproduct, it is a design outcome.
