Sonic Textiles explores the sensory intersections between
sound, touch, and visuals through knit. Inspired by experimental music and graphic notation, the project aspires to be a form of knitted sheet music. It’s open to interpretation; different fibres evoke ideas of how the music should be played.
Cashmere and lambswool emulate soft sounds, and the stretch of elastic creates a glissando. As you run your finger over the ridges, you should feel a steady rhythm, with the colours guiding what you play. The neon is bright and major, whereas the darker and less vibrant hues are minor. Read it as you feel.
