Sarah White : Vibrant Art and Textile Design from the Microscopic to the Botanical
Sarah White is an artist and designer whose work explores the vibrant intersection between fine art, textiles, and surface pattern. Working primarily with acrylic paint, collage, and digital tools such as Photoshop, she creates bold, immersive compositions that blur the boundaries between painting and design. Her practice is deeply rooted in an abstract expressionist approach, brought to life through striking colours, layered textures, and intricate patterns.
Throughout her time studying fine art, Sarah has developed a growing passion for textiles and surface design. What began as an interest in pattern has evolved into a multidisciplinary practice where her artworks are transformed into repeat prints, fabric designs, and even furniture textiles. This expansion has opened new possibilities, including future plans to produce and sell her own line of printed fabrics and homeware pieces.
Nature is a central influence in her work. Sarah draws inspiration from her own photography and visual research, particularly focusing on organic forms such as flowers, underwater life, and microscopic bacteria. These elements are digitally abstracted into bold graphic motifs, creating rich visual landscapes that are both fantastical and rooted in the natural world.
Her work is informed by a wide range of artistic influences, including Robert Kushner, Henri Matisse, John McAllister, Yayoi Kusama, Kaffe Fassett, and Zandra Rhodes. Like these artists and designers, Sarah embraces decorative beauty, visual pleasure, and material experimentation as powerful artistic tools.
Through her unique fusion of painting, design, and digital media, Sarah White creates joyful, imaginative spaces that invite viewers to pause, reflect, and re-engage with the everyday world in new and unexpected ways.
