Product Design Engineering

Reid Building, 5 students

Product Design Engineering or “PDE” brings together two cultures – the studio and creative environment of one of Europe’s leading art schools – the GSA, and the James Watt School of Engineering at the University of Glasgow – a world top 100 university (QS World Ranking). Students are introduced to industry through live projects and visits and the final year involves an individual major project that can be made in collaboration with industry. Contextual studies underpinning their projects include entrepreneurial, technology, human factors, ethical and societal considerations. This year’s cohort’s final projects embrace the innovation and creativity that the course champions, creating projects which centre user experience and ethical and sustainable design principles.
