Together
The kitchen table is the fulcrum around which many homes turn. This is where we gather to eat food, dissect our days, talk and laugh. We now have more and more objects of distraction around our homes, drawing us away from the table and away from the community it fosters. The act of sitting and eating together can start discussions and forge connections.
The objects in this collection are to be used everyday, they are not to be saved for best but to celebrate and glorify the daily rituals of the kitchen table. These objects then become containers for the memories that are made at the table, triggering recollections.
Several of these objects are designed with more than one use, they could hold tea lights, candles or flowers, depending on the meal or time of day. This creates some visual variety to keep them interesting even if you see them day after day.
The designs are inspired by objects of kitchen equipment, everyday items that we use to create the delicious meals that bring us together.
This piece is completely interactive. Each of the sections can fit into any of the others creating any configuration you like or even used separately. They can fit tea lights or dinner candles meaning you can keep changing them up so you don't get bored and they can be used at any occasion.
This piece is a vase but also a candlestick. There is a candle cup than can fit on the base when not in use and then be slipped into the vase neck turning it into a candlestick. This variety of use means that it can be used at any time of day and everyday.
This acid green underneath gives a fun unexpected pop when you turn it to remove to replace the candle cup.
Crumbs in the Butter
A collection of ten breakfast objects designed to lure people to eat together at the table for that most important meal of the day, breakfast.
