Eilidh Robertson

(She/Her)

My final year project explores luxurious embroidered textiles through rich colour and blended textures. I have drawn inspiration from Alexander Greek Thomson’s magnificent architectural designs, at Holmwood house, as well as the intricate details found in Scottish National Trust locations such as the Georgian house in Edinburgh.

Through embroidery, I create textiles that explore the fusion of colour and detail, using stitches and materials to craft layered and vibrant designs which translate the decorative qualities of the architecture and interiors of the historical buildings. Mixed embroidery processes have been explored to translate the rich research.

My textiles explore a range of diverse techniques and adaptability resulting in a collection of embroidered textiles for interiors and fashion.

Whenever possible I work sustainably through the repurposing of donated fabrics and prioritising the use of pre-existing materials that might otherwise go to waste.
