‘Corp Fearainn’

Gaelic translation ‘ Body of Land’

The beauty of things never designed for arts sake. Through the growth of industry we have lost our connection with community and land. The garments we wear, beauty in the labour and process. A life of slower practices.

It’s the physicality in how we do things.

The maternal hold.

Being held and grown by land.

Hand growing, hand making,

The impact of touch.

Corp Fearainn

This collection began with sourcing and reimagining unused fabrics. Look one was developed from a 1950s French military silk parachute, and a Dover Marquee ltd old marquee canvas.

Silhouette and detail developed and grew with this project. Finding inspiration from environment, my practices strengthened and concept materialised.

My project has been molded by the feelings distilled through photography; the atmosphere and emotion created in one still image. How narratives are created and nostalgia is evoked. This creates a desire to design this same reaction through clothing. Serenity and solitude.
