These images form part of a year-long project documenting the coastal English town of Littlehampton – affectionately known locally as LA.

Members of my family have lived here for as long as I can remember, and in the past two decades the town has changed dramatically.

I’m interested in the peculiar atmosphere that arises in a place caught between identities: where young people feel a growing sense of disillusionment, while planners work to rebrand the town for families seeking a life outside of London. It’s within this tension that a strange, uneasy kind of bliss emerges, one that feels unique to LA.
